I'm so excited about this Red Sale event.

I wanted a G6 GTP, but the Employee Pricing offer didn't count for 06 models at the time, and this is just as good, as far as I'm concerned. You can get a fully loaded G6 GTP Coupe for like 24,xxx.

Not bad.

My GTP coupe cost 24,xxx, and that was in August. But the only things I didn't have were side airbags (~600) and the adjustable pedals (~125), so $725 should not even be a problem to knock off the final cost.

Red tag sale?

I was informed by the dealership yesterday that there isn't any way to support my negative equity on ANY vehicle.. how are people dumping their 05s already?

I want to know too!!! How the hell can I off load my 6 month old '05 which I still owe 20k on and drive off in an '06 GTP for $21,XXX? I really don't want a GTP with the 18/26 gas milage, but it does have a few extra ponies.

Pontiac G6 Sedan (Select a different vehicle)

Selected Style: GTP
MSRP: $24,835.00
Red Tag Price after cash incentives†: $21,971.13
(After applicable incentives. See details.)

i have a high interest rate and 24000 owed on my 05 -the 06 is 24000 or so-trade the 05 for 17500 - pay tax on the new price minus the trade = tax-put down 2000 -GMAC finances the new one (higher than my loan now but less interst-125 lower per month payment -it works out less than now--yes you lose a little but less interest percent is worth it to me

So what would your payment be and for how long? Is it a loan, or SmartBuy? Remember, your probably going to be paying more for gas and insurance with the GTP. I would kind of like a GTP, but not willing to go over $350 a month with a car/insurance payment.

payment would be about 375 for 72 - but at 5 % instead of 11 - pus a 06 -it works out for me-insurance is 75 more per year

Well I've been dealing with my Pontiac Dealership all morning. Contacted the dealership that I got the G6 from. I am looking at an 05 Grand Prix GT. Red Tag price is 22 something. I estimated a payment of 499 if I paid 32+ for this car, which is not what I would pay, just picked a high number to go on. Let me tell you the dealership must be on something, the "allowed" me 21+ for my G6 and came up with a 600 per month payment for 72 months!!!!!! i was looking at my payment being the same, from the way I calculated it on the GMAC calculator. I have e-mailed the dealership and asked how he came up with 600 per month, I'll let you know!!! :bolt:

you can't get rid of the negative equity-but to trade my car now I get top dolar instead of a few years-plus the red tag--try another dealer if you want to trade

be careful--they add Gap insurance--alarms etc--just make sure you get the ful red tag-about 3400 or so-plus your trade--plus any money down--and you pay tax on the difference of the new price and the trade in price--good luck!

That would be state-based. Some states do taxes different than others.

$375 for six years? Wow, thats a long time. The warranty is only going to last 3 years, plus you end up paying $27K+ for it. I'd look at the Mitsubishi Galant with the 3.8, 10 year 100K warranty.

Well I asked where the dealership got the 600 per month payment. The repsonse was, "why don't you come in tomorrow when the finance person is here and go over everything." I told this nut case that I was not going to drive an hour to see where he got this 600 per month from because I was not going to pay that. I told him I needed to see his reasoning and if he could not explain this to me then I would have to pass. I told him I felt like I was not getting the best deal possible. This was at 10:45am (central time). I have not heard anything from him since then, so I'm assuming he's not interested in my business, oh well.

Sorry to hear that Robyn, it seems that the dealerships where I live are just interested in how much they are making off the deal rather than actually trying to sell a car. Everywhere I have gone in the area won't take a dime off their sticker price. Despite the wide gap in price by the various delears they all make the same claim "We have the lowest price and we don't have any room to go down further".

So frustrating.

Nope, I'm paying $299 a month Smartbuy for 48 months with $5000.00 due at the end if I want to keep it, which I won't. It's a good deal, except if you want to trade it. If you do, GMAC wants the full Smartbuy amount plus the $5k, hence I owe 20K on it if I wanted to trade it today.

Check this out:

2006 Galant LS

MSRP* $ 22,999

Comes standard with: a 3.8-liter V6, Sportronic® four-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control and clutchless manual shift mode, air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors, daytime running lights, 140-watt CD/MP3-compatible audio system with six speakers and audio information display, four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), traction control, eight-way adjustable driver's seat, speed-sensitive power steering, 16-inch alloy wheels, tire pressure monitor system, advanced dual-stage front SRS air bags,† front seat-mounted side-impact air bags† and more. Plus a 10 year 100k warranty
.

Beats the GTP hands down!!! God, I hope I get rear ended by a plow truck when is starts snowing.

$374 for 4 years isn't bad, $17,952. Six years, $26,928, now thats bad. Yes it might be a lower payment for hook, but for a longer period. That equals more money you have to pay out in the long run. He should take that cash he has and apply it of his current car loan and then refinance through GMAC or another bank with a lower interest rate.
