I bought an 05 G6 off lease from GM and service history shows the I-shaft was replaced twice within 5000 km at 51k and 56k. I'm going on 88k now and experiencing a slight "clunk" but only when turning right or parking.

I was told there is an updated I-shaft that offers a permanent solution to this clunk. Can anyone confirm or provide me with a part #?

Hmm. Im not much a steering component guru but its a very common problem with these cars. I think GM needs to recall these cars for all the steering problems....and not to mention brake rotors.

The revised i-shaft is painted and cannot be lubed. It's much improved but not perfect so the clunk may come back eventually. I don't have the part number for it.
