Hello,

I am looking to buy a different car (already have mine sold) and a G6 in my area caught my eye now I just have a few questions before I go check it out.

It is a 2007 G6 GT with 67k miles on it with the 3.5L engine, premium package leather, sun & sound package.

Are there any common known problems with this year/model that I should look out for? Anything I should be checking for when I go to see it?

I am also wondering how easy is it to put in a aftermarket cd player with sub & amp to the premium sound system? I have my stereo, amp & sub from my previous car that I would like to install when I get the car just wondering if it's any trouble because of the premium system already installed. Any links on how to do it would be great also. Is the premium system the monsoon or just more speakers? Anyway to tell when I look at the car?

Any other information you could give me would be great as Im going to be going to see later today.

Thanks for anyone with any information for me!

Ive got an '07 and love it!! I would say just watch for the usual stuff...no major problems for us. as far as the monsoon..some love it some hate it. I guess you can call it a premium system its definitly upgraded with better speakers and amp. if you want to change it you can compltly re do the whole system or add a amp and sub with a loc. we can help you with that.

Thanks for the reply. I understand I can do the easy LOC but I wanted to know about adding a aftermarket cd player. I want to add a aftermarket because I just use my IPOD for music and the one I would put in has my ipod cord connected to it that i'd just put into the glove box.

I want to know if I should search for a car with or without the monsoon system because from what I am reading (correct me if I am wrong) but with the monsoon system the information center and everything is tied in so i'd have to buy like a $200 adapter to keep all that working vs a cheap adapter for the normal sound system??

The DIC is tied into the stock system, Monsoon or not. If you go aftermarket, you'll need something like this: [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-3303-Vehicles-Integrate-Diagnostics/dp/B000G7SGO4[/ame]

Or you can use the stock system and add something like this: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1246

+1. I have one of those. I got it cheaper by shopping around. The sound quality is good, and you can control it through the stock HU. To be fair the operation does have some annoyances but it does work and you also get a spare AUX input should you need it. It doesn't interfere with XM or OnStar if those are in the car.

The Monsoon system has an amp in the trunk so the wiring could be somewhat simpler for your sub. I find the system lacking in mids and don't think the overall sound is great, but also don't plan on doing anything about it.

The 2007s have slightly more torque and HP than the earlier and later models. 2008+ has the same tuning improvements as 2007 but added a third catalytic converter to have partial-zero emissions.

Yea, the system definitely lacks in mid-bass. Even my aftermarket system lacks that and I plan on getting some equalizers/crossovers to fix that.
