Thanks - only update I have is that the Restraint system digit has different values depending on whether you have side airbags or not. In fact there are different codes between 2005 and 2006 model because 2006 added the Passenger Airbag suppression system:

2 = Front Airbags only for 2005 model
4 = Front/Side Airbags for 2005 model



Starting in 2006 there are different codes for if you have roof rail, seat thorax or any combination of them:

5 = Front Airbags only with Passenger Airbag suppression for 2006 mode
6 = Front/seat thorax with Passenger Airbag suppression for 2006 model (convertible only)
7 = Front/seat thorax/roof rail with Passenger Airbag suppression for 2006 model



And out in 2007 model I bet there are new engine codes

I can give you build date from the sequence number. There weren't actually that many vehicles built. Kind of like when you get checks from the bank - they never start with check #1.

But the check digit is based on a calculation involving values of other digits in the VIN which can be used for error checking purposes to make sure number is valid. I don't know if that would be given up.
