i've got a 2005 g6 gt and recently it started leaking on the driver side door when it rains or when i take it thru a car wash i searched customer reviews with this particular year and model and it seems to be a common problem but simply replacing the weather stripping didnt work for any of them. i guess theres not too much to worry about since its winter now here in canada but if you guys got any ideas i'd appreciate it

My recommendation is never to take your car through an auto car wash.
As for the leak, i dont know what to tell ya.
well, i just got my g6 last week, so i still don't know much about them, BUT when i was researching before i bought, I remember reading there is a drain tube that runs down the pillar and under the car, but if the tube gets disclonnected the water drains in the car? do a search, there were pics and everything. tired or i would-sorry

do you have a sunroof in yours? they have a big issue with the hoses from the sunroof drain coming off and leaking.

that's the most probable cause
i have a panoramic sunroof but the leak comes from the lower right hand corner of the driver side door near the speaker i dont think the sun roof has any affect on it
you won't see the water coming down from the sunroof. It comes down the front pillar and appears on the floor/carpet.

Trust me on this one. The panoramic sunroofs always had this problem. I can guarantee you that's the problem.

what i would do is call the dealer even though you might not have the warranty anymore (if you do then even better) and give them the vin of your car and ask if it has a recall on the sunroof leaking.

the problem with them was that the drain hoses would slowly slide off and start leaking. All they gotta do is put the hose back on a secure it with a clamp.

If you are not car savvy and don't feel like taking the ceiling/roof of your car off I'd call the dealer.

i guarantee you that's the problem because this is a known issue with those panoramic sunroofs.
My recommendation is never to take your car through an auto car wash.

i'm just wondering why is it your recommendation to never take your car through a car wash? what's wrong with car washes?
another place it may be coming from is the window. if u have the coupe that is.
when i first got my vert it had a small leak from the window seal area when it rained and if u looked close enough u could tell that the window wasnt sealing up tight like it should. took it back to the dealer and they adjusted it back to where it should be and voila! no more leak.

but if u have the sedan, i would deff listen to the guys about the sunroof, it's a common problem with the draintube cloging

car washes cause lots of little scrathes and such, ensur3 is totally correct. car washes are not the best thing. but if that is all u have the time, supplies or ability to use then it's ur choice. doing it by hand in ur own driveway is so much better. less scrathes and a much cleaner car. :)

but once again it's ur own choice wether or not u want to take it to an auto wash...
ive had this problem before. i dont have a sunroof in my car though. i took it to my dealer and they said that it was from the door not shutting all the way. they said it actualy bent the pillar back from shutting the door so hard. i bought the car used so i know it was the previous owner
when i first mentioned the going thru the car wash i didnt mean one where a machine does all the washing but i meant wand washing those placing that have the pressurized water hoses and foam brushes thats where i usually go is that the same as a auto wash?
this is totally unrelated but its winter here and i cant find the outlet so i can plug my car in during the night

not every car has a block heater...
