2007 G6, V6, Automatic

Yesterday when leaving work for lunch I noticed the transmission shifting very hard (firm) from gear to gear. When leaving last night to go home the remote start would not work (when the car would normally start the lights flash once and there is a 1-2 second buzzing sound). The car started normally with the key but once on the highway, the cruise did not work. The transmission was shifting normally at that point.

Tried this morning and got the same results.

I've had the remote start act this way before, but it worked fine the next day. The cruise control light on the steering wheel is lit but it will not engage.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

hey guys . i have adoor ajar on and all my doors are closed , whats up, help . the drivers door will not lock the lock goes down but pops right back up.
As far as the door lock popping back up have you had the door panel off recently or got the car used? cause there might be some wires or insulation blocking the lock a bit. I just changed my speakers and that happened when the door was off.

Problem Fixed

I cannot live without cruise control!!!!!

Not wanting to take the car to a dealer, I ordered a set of service manuals from Helm.

I had also noticed the door locks were not automatically engaging/disengaging anymore. Mmmm...if the car doesn't know what gear it's in, the cruise and remote start could be disabled.

The next day while waiting to pick someone up, I noticed I could put the car in gear without putting my foot on the brake....now it was becoming clear...bad shift lock solenoid I thought.

The manuals arrived, I looked up the fuse location. This is where I found out the fuse for the shift lock solenoid is the same fuse for...you guessed it, the cruise control. Hah! I pulled the fuse and ....bummer it was still OK :(

I put the fuse back in, put the panel on, and was going in to look at the manuals again to see how much trouble it was going to be to changed the solenoid....but before I went in I thought, just try it maybe it works OK now....yeah right! Guess what, it did!

I did read on a web site that sometimes the BCM connections can "frett" and need to be cleaned. Maybe I bumped something...don't know, but the car is back to normal operating conditions and I'm happy.

Spending money on the service manuals ---priceless! 20 years of troubleshooting specialized, computer controlled, industrial machinery didn't hurt either.

This is for "onetime".. Do you have an aftermarket keyless or anything installed on it? soemtimes this means that your polarity is mixed up and you need to diode isolate the lock/unlock wires because when you lock it, it still shoots voltage to the unlock..
