Looks like a motor mount but thats just off the cuff.

yeah I found out its a bracket that connects that dampner to the top of the motor acting as a motor mount cusion type thing. not sure how long its been busted.......what would cause a piece like that to break......thanks

A number of things could do it.
In my hot-rod days a lot of dead stop punching.
Metal fatigue probably.

It's my wife's car and she is no relation to Danica Patrick (although she kind of looks like her) so I doubt she does any dead stop punching or burnouts.....just seems wierd that a part like that would snap....

I would check for a worn engine mount.

56,000 miles I think it may have been from when it was rear-ended. I forgot that the previous owner said it was rear-ended, so maybey that caused it?

Looks like car was taken over a curb or a sharp bounce cracked it!
