Windshield mark

I live in NY/CT area

I have tried new factory blades at $60/pair and TRICO aftermarket blades. I have cleaned the blades with all manner of cleaners and cleaned my windshield with all types of cleaners. I have tried waxing the windshield and using RainX. Nothing seems to work.

Its funny you say waxing the windshield? I used to wax the windshields of cars I owned and I found the wiper blades would skip and leave black marks on the glass. Hum , sounds familiar. Have you tried “glass scrub” yet?

Haven't tried Glass Scrub but I used a freon based spray solvent that got everything off the glass.

As for waxing, it did not cause the blades to skip. It still lft the same mark in the same place. I only tried waxing at the suggestion of a mechanic after this problem showed up so the waxing did not cause it. RainX has appeard to slow down the process a bit but not eliminate it.

Windshield mark

I have tried using windex and a Scotch plastic abrasive pad, toothpaste ( did not work but the windshield smelled great ) and now my buddy gave me a bottle of No Touch Auto Glass Stripper. Is that what you call " glass scrub"?

No "Glass Scrub" is the name of the product. It's kind of a buffing compound, it is abrasive. It made the glass as smooth as a babies butt, not that I feel babies butts .

Windshield Mark

I find it hard to believe that this problem has anything to do with the windshield or wiper blades being dirty. I have cleaned them so much that they squeak. Old blades, new blades, doesn't matter. The line comes back.

As I posted earlier, I had the same problem on my 2002 Grand Am. I figured when I got the G6, there would no longer be the same problem, but I was wrong.

I am thinking it might have to do with wiper arm pressure or perhaps the motor puts some downward force at the end of its stroke. I really don't see how it is environmental as I have cleaned everything as much as is realistically possible.

I could be the glass itself. I find the windshield on my Grand Am as well as the G6 very susceptible to sandblasting from debris on the road.

Anyway, I am open to suggestions, but any manner of cleaning has just not produced any real results.

Glass Scrub

I will look for glass scrub in the Canadian Tire store up here in the Great White North. If I cannot find it, a trip to Buffalo, N.Y. is coming soon. I just tried No Touch Glass Cleaner. I will let you know the results.

Windshield mark removed

I used "No Touch Auto Glass Stripper" on the windshield. Checked this morning and the mark was no longer there. I also ran through a storm this afternoon and the mark did not reappear while running the wipers. Fingers crossed and I will keep the group informed.
Thanks to all who responded...Guess I can put the hammer away for now.

RainX

RainX did not help much. Seemed to increase the time it took for the mark to become annoying, but it did make it very difficult to remove the mark. So much so that I bought No Touch Auto Glass stripper and used it to completely clean the windhield. The Rainx was not easy to remove.

Not much rain in the forecast here so i am not sure when I can report back on how well the No Touch works.

Windshield mark

It finally rained a bit, but I was only out in it for about 20 minutes. I had cleaned my windshield (and wiped the blades with it also) with No Touch Windshield Cleaner and I do see that there appears to be little or no evidence of the mark.

It's going to be dry again for a while, so I doubt I'll have much more to add for a bit, but initially at least, it looks like the No touch cleaner is helping.

Glad the No Touch helped you . I have not seen the mark since my initial application.
